| Site: |
Originally built in 1969 as the Pacific Shore Hotel, the property underwent a complete renovation and interior redesign in 2001 and 2002 to be reborn as Viceroy Santa Monica.
A 14-foot-tall light sculpture marks the site of the eight-story hotel. Inside, a crisp color palette hints at the English colonial era with modern uses of trellis and caning patterns, Regency furnishings and classic decorative effects. Coastal hues of parrot green, driftwood gray and wavecrest white gleam within the hotel's dramatic lobby, manifest in smart leather furniture and decorative elements such as china displays and oversized cameos. A limed wood floor underscores the décor, both literally and figuratively, with a polished finish. |

| Guestrooms and Suites: |
Exuding British style with a cosmopolitan spirit and coastal atmosphere, each of Viceroy Santa Monica's 162 guestrooms and executive suites are meticulously appointed with applied moldings, custom armoires, Lucite and glass tables and clean-lined bed frames. Guest bathrooms feature immaculate marble-tiled floors, walls, and shower and tub stalls, as well as seated vanities in many. Most guestrooms have coastal views.
Along with Viceroy and Grande guestrooms, Viceroy Santa Monica also offers expansive suite accommodations. The one-bedroom Empire Suite has full ocean-view balcony, living room with coffered ceiling and convertible sleeper sofa, flat-screen TV, and oversized bathroom with whirlpool tub. The one-bedroom Monarch Suite is a Presidential-caliber penthouse suite, with ocean-view balcony, marble entry, living room with wet bar, convertible sleeper sofa and lavish bathroom with whirlpool tub and steam shower. Its design elements and unique furnishings were created exclusively for this one-of-a-kind penthouse. Both suites can be expanded into two-bedroom suites through adjacent Viceroy rooms. |

Restaurant: Whist |
Named for the quintessential British card game, Whist offers gourmet New American cuisine, with a selection of seafood, steak and unique specialty dishes crafted from the freshest local ingredients by renowned Executive Chef Warren Schwartz. The restaurant was named one of America's 50 best hotel restaurants by Food + Wine magazine.
With almost a decade of experience as chef de cuisine and executive chef, Schwartz joined Whist in 2004 after making his culinary mark of distinction at Patina in Los Angeles as well as Saddle Peak Lodge in Calabasas, California.
Whist hosts a dramatic display of 250 pieces of English china, stunningly arranged against a green-mirrored wall. Inside the restaurant, guests are seated in alcove booths, freestanding tables or banquettes. Sparkling glass chandeliers refashioned into pentagonal sculpture dangle from the ceiling, while urn-print wallpaper glows with a metallic glint. Floor to ceiling glass doors extend the restaurant's space into the garden, where dining under the stars or in private cabanas is also available.

Bar: Cameo |
The lobby flows into Cameo Bar, a chic and spirited hot-spot named for the oversize cameo above the front desk. With its inviting lounge atmosphere, the bar includes a combination of vintage and custom furniture, modern paintings and translucent tables. A suspended double-sided modern painting by Los Angeles-based artist Joshua Elias creates a screen barrier between the open lobby and Cameo Bar. The 2004 Los Angeles Nightlife Zagat Guide named Cameo Bar one of the city's "Best Newcomers."
Cameo Bar serves imported and California wines, premium well drinks and appetizers from Whist. Signature drinks include Blood Orange, Key Lime and Raspberry Lemon Drop martinis. |
